53 Marking Paths
As Soul breathed in the stagnant air within the Pumphouse, it re ran the paths they had all been on together and sighed.
It didn’t seem to matter which choice of path they had taken, whichever direction, however clear the path had been at any given time, they always seemed to lead to a dead end or a diversion, or even to a place that had no bearing at all to their journey. The result seemed to always be the same. Heart would be broken again, Spirit would be crushed again, Body would be exhausted, bruised and battered and Brain….Brain would be confused, overthinking and over assessing. Soul took another deep sigh.
Soul was beginning to come to a similar crossroads as Brain. Something was not right. Too many choices and too many wrong ones. The paths seem to have been deliberately constructed to have them misled and misaligned, and as much as Soul tried, it could not remember a single path that had led to the predetermined place of fulfilment as was intended or as it should, and Soul craved to find one. They were all exhausted. If they couldn’t change with others, they would have to change the path themselves, alone.
Perhaps this time isolated in the Pumphouse was meant to be? To reflect, to decide what exactly would bring fulfilment for the next part of their journey here on earth.
Soul tried to discover what lay ahead as far as it could see each time they chose a path but a Soul on earth had its limitations, only the ones in the higher realms got the best birds eye view and could see further ahead. Soul felt it was being killed softly, slowly and with precision by someone who already knew their route. Soul sighed and tried to hope that when they got out, not if but when they got out, Soul would try to see not just further ahead but what was best for them all in the present time. What was best for them only. Maybe that was the key to success.
“Not that we agree on much” concluded Brain. “but I happen to agree with you. Too much has gone wrong even with the correct facts, accurate assessment and the unknown quantity of the people we have met, there seems to have been an awful lot of bad in the outcomes in many places we have ended up in, on large future planning decisions and even the little ones. I have heard heard it called ‘bad luck’ or ‘fate’ but they are foreign concepts to me as a general rule. It’s why I don’t encourage Body to enter the lottery. The child’s mother (if my memory banks serve me correctly) used to say that ” you make your own luck” so I concluded she was right.”
“So how can you win the lottery unless you enter it” cried Heart.
“A good point Heart and one that I never considered” admitted Brain.
“Because it requires hope and imagination. You have to picture what you would do if you won it. How you would spend it? who would you buy gifts for and who would you help?” and Heart almost sounded happier just at the thought of it which kind of proved the point.
“Hmm… some people would call it manifestation” called Spirit.
“Some may call it purpose and intention” sighed Soul.
“Or how about plain positive thinking?” asked Brain “Something I admit I am not particularly good at and the therapist concurs with me.”
They were interrupted by a beam of light through the window and a small gush of wind.
“We’re back” the Little Red Haired Girl announced “have you missed me?”
“Of course” cried Heart “but where is Nana?”
“Oh she had to go back. She said she was too tired to be that heavy anymore, but she promised me we could go out again soon.”
“That’s good then. Did you have a fun time?”
“Yes. We found the red flags thank you Soul, and then there was a big storm that blew some of them away and we got some white stones to mark our way back and there was lots of flowers see I have Daisies in my hair and there was…
“I can see” cried Heart “so pretty.”
Heart and the Little Red Haired Girl chatted excitedly for what seemed like an eternity to Brain who was starting to switch off until Soul whispered “So Nana has thought ahead with the white stones. Clever and purposeful.”
“Hmm” called Spirit.
“It’s good planning I agree” stated Brain “but you would have thought no assumed is a better word, that she would have reported to us on her return, to tell us if there were any signs of nearby help? which direction she headed in? or whether she noticed anything about the door of the Pumphouse from the outside?”
“Hmmm” called Spirit.
“It takes a lot of energy to be on the earth for a passed over loved one, I would say she was probably very tired” sighed Soul.
“Hmm” Spirit was not so sure but it would keep its calling to the spiritual court, they would assess Nana and know how light she was and how good her intentions were to be.
