134 Going Home
The journey home was long and arduous. When they got there, the house was still, unfinished and forlorn. Just as Heart had remembered it.
“We are, we can and we will finish it” called Spirit. “We will pray and meditate for protection from the spell work and evil within this house. We will recover from Hearts break, we will work our Body till it’s done and know that our path lies elsewhere.”
Body immediately got herself water from the kitchen and sat at the kitchen table. “That’s all very well” lamented Body “but I am exhausted.”
“Not to worry” sighed Soul “our journey has no need to be rushed. We can set our own schedule and rest when you need to, but we must remain isolated, it’s our own journey we need to learn from.”
So after restoring Body with much needed food and further to drink, and an early night or three, they set to work. Grateful to see the sun rise every morning. The same sun they used to take for granted. They worked a little every day and then found some pleasure working in the garden. They rested when they needed to. They found the balance between work and play and were grateful for that particular lesson Noswad had taught them.
They found a creative and relaxing hobby that lifted their Spirit and Soul and were grateful for the time they had for it knowing that time itself is only manmade and as such they ‘made’ time for it.
As for Heart? Heart gradually came up from the seam it was buried in. Once black, shiny and sharp as a lump of coal turning in Body’s chest, they had started to forgive themselves and ‘others’ and Heart started to return to a pink and happier even in their isolation within the house. They became grateful for the memories and people from their life, after all, it had made them who they were today.
Body looked in the mirror and saw changes, some she liked some she didn’t, but as there was little she could do about it, accepted its condition and herself as she was. Body was grateful she had her health albeit compromised. Body had arms and legs to work with, a Brain that tried to function and a Heart that was still beating. Life was going to be Ok and Body vowed to make the most of it once they had all fully recovered.
In the garden, they ignored the broken jars they kept digging up.

In the house, they covered all the mirrors and burnt sage.
In the yard, they painted over the shot hole in the wall.
In the aura, they ignored the noises at night, the feeling of being watched, the little and big events and work that went wrong, and if they did go wrong, they just changed to another job temporarily to go back to the first at a later time. Body worked hard to finish renovating the house, cleansing and protecting the space as well as herself with salt baths, prayer and meditation.
Inch by Inch progress was being made and signs of improvement were happening, not just on the house but within it too. Body noticed signs that were being given with visiting animals and insects, and Brain looked up the symbolic meaning of their appearance either within the house or on their daily walk in the forest, often passing and revisiting the Pumphouse where they had been trapped for so long. Why? Because it was their only point of reference to the troubles they had experienced and showed them just how far they had progressed away from that dark space and it took courage to do it.
Spirit noticed light overtaking the dark spaces within the house too. There was a better and safe aura. Light played on the newly painted walls and reflections were seen by Body and noted by Brain. All was going to be well.
Brain took steps with Body’s permission, to go to the solicitor. What could be done to hold the builder accountable for his shoddy work? What had the witnesses said? What was the cost of thev proceedings? Was it worth their effort? What was the chance of success?
This time, after resurfacing from the Pumphouse, Brain took account of and paid attention to all five of them. It was difficult to way up the odds, but in the end, they all decided that truth would need to be revealed and hopefully, justice too! It was going to be a hard battle to win, but God willing, it was their obligation to see that it happened, or at least that they had tried to make justice happen.
“It’s in the figures” stated Brain “why should we bear the cost of another’s incompetence, when we hired the builder in good faith?”
“It’s the disappointment” cried Heart “Why would people be so disloyal to us?”
“It’s the hard work” said Body “all my hard work that others have spoilt.”
“It’s the unfairness” called Spirit “I won’t let people get away with it. I will fight it.”
“It’s the principal” sighed Soul “no one should get away with deliberate sabotage to another’s progress, and if the law of the land will back us up, we must take that path even though the odds are against us. Knowing whether we will succeed or not is not our destination, having faith in the journey is.”
They thought and sat in the garden admiring the recent work they had achieved.
“You know, it’s not going to be nice here don’t you?” the Little Red Haired Girl announced.
“Oh Hello” cried Heart “we’ve not seen you in a while.”
“No, I’ve been busy getting cleaned up. Nana said I was filthy and it would take at least a week of scrubbing to get me clean.”
“Is that a new dress?”
“Yes, my own. Nana made it just for me.”
“It’s very pretty and I like the green.”
“Yes, it goes well with my hair Nana said so, but this house does not go well with us.”
“What do you mean?” said Body “We have worked hard to get it right for us. Why do you say that child?”
“There’s something wrong with the white powder.”
“Erm.. what do you mean?”
“I think she means flour” stated Brain who was proud of the guess having remembered her fondness for baking with Nana.
“Yes, the flour. The cake won’t rise unless the flour is good. It won’t taste good neither. You have to use the right stuff.”
“Ingredients?” suggested Brain.
“Yes and flour is what you add everything else to. It’s no good otherwise. You can put butter in it instead of marg, you can put jam in it once it’s cooled, you can ice it and make it look pretty, but it won’t be no good.”
“Any” corrected Brain. “Any good is the correct way to say it.”
“I know what I meant” The child replied. “It, this house, will be no good for you all.”
“I think she is right” cried Heart “too much has gone on in this house for it to be a happy home.”
“That’s giving up” called Spirit.
“No it isn’t” sighed Soul “it’s knowing that this is not where we are meant to be.”
“Well, after all the effort that…”
“Shut up Brain” they all shouted.
“Just a minute, will you let me finish?”
“Go on” sighed Soul.
“I was going to say that after all the effort in finishing this house, we should sell it and see see what we are offered.”
They were dumbfounded at Brains acknowledgement and consideration of how they were feeling.
“That’s a decision then” Soul sighed.
“I will go to the shop then with Grandad and get some new flour.”
“Something of better substance” called Spirit.
“and a new direction” sighed Soul.
“Then I will relieve myself of this burden eventually” stated Brain “and all the hassle it had caused.”
“We can give it away” sighed Soul.
“Give it to whom?” The House!” exclaimed Brain.

“No” sighed Soul “The decision. Give the decision away to God, he will take our burden if we let him.”
“But we need common sense too” said Body.
“Always” said God.
